Light

The inspiration for this watercolor/poem combination comes from some decorative vases that my sister has placed in a window of her home. I love the colors and the way the light and shadows look.

Watercolor painting of blue and brown glass jars sitting on a window ledge with the sun shining through them.
Life is as fragile as glass
And as fleeting
as the shadows they cast

But light
fractured
Dances and skips
it's way around the room.

Fleeting
But joyful,
happy and warm

It's short-lived presence
Is not decried for its brevity
But celebrated
For how our hearts were touched

Darkness
is not swept out with a broom

Only open curtains
and open hearts allow
The warmth of the sun
