The question always is, which comes first? The poem or the painting. In today’s case it was the poem and then I created the painting to match my vision of it.
I do find that harder than getting the painting first and writing a short story or poem based on that, but sometimes you just have an idea that you need to write out.
Anyway, today’s poem is called “Dragon Time!”. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing and painting it.

Dragon sniggles, wiggles, pounce Fierce and brave, one big bounce Rolls and squirms, holds on fast Dragon fire, one big blast Swooping tail, feet in air Hides behind the kitchen chair Not defeated, one more try Catches fast, tries to fly Won't let go, holding tight Warriors battle, still they fight Til it eases and gives in Today is Dragon's turn to win Itchy, skrittchy dragon skin Needs a scratch and then she's in Takes a nap in the sun Well deserved, battle won Snoozes til the sunshine melts Stretches, catches, 'What's that smell?" Time to eat! Pads down the hall. Dragon's just a little kitten after all © Sharon L Letson 2023 #sharonlletson #sharonlletsonauthor #poetry #watercolorart
