Simplicity

Why should I reach for the stars?
When I prefer to admire them from afar.

Too close and they'd burn too bright.
Surrounded by darkness they decorate the night.

Like pearls sliding off a thread.
A million sparkles of yellow, blue, and red

I do not desire the depths of the ocean to reach,
When my soul is at rest upon the beach.

With sand and shells and lapping waves
A fragrant breeze to warm my days.

A simple life is all I crave.
To live at peace is to be brave
